Bertil Osberg Design is a design consultancy founded in 2014 with the mission to provide support regarding design and concept development.

Bertil Osberg Design provides services reaching from concept studies to complete design proposals. We can assist in research, ideation, strategic studies, concept development, proportion studies, complete proposal, validation and design strategy. Our passion for brand values and character development together with needs and requirement analysis will add value enabling the creation of a competitive product with enhanced success potential in the future market place.

We can supply initial design exploration as well as create alternatives to in-house proposals. We appreciate close co-operation with all functions including Product planning, Market and Engineering departments in order to establish an efficient “substance from the start” culture. Our belief is that cross-functional attention is a prerequisite for a successful project completion.

We will provide research, sketches, renderings, and CAD-models presented in a way that fits your process and meet your expectations. Our broad knowledge from automotive research & development has given us the mindset and experience needed to deliver a lean, cost and time efficient development process.

Bertil Osberg has some 25 years of experience from the automotive industry.

After an initial engineering degree, Bertil Osberg gained experience from automotive research & development working at aerodynamic / climate windtunnels in Sweden and at a proving ground in the southwestern USA.

Bertil then studied Transportation design at Art Center (Europe), Vevey, Switzerland and graduated from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California, USA.

Some years as a consultant followed, working with vehicle design, cars and trucks, for OEMs and suppliers. Then 12 years at the Volvo Cars Design Center, as a permanent employee, developing exterior and interior design for production and concept cars. Responsible for the strategic (advanced) design phase concerning several production projects and numerous cross-functional platform design optimization concepts & studies. Examples of projects contributed to; Volvo Cars - XC90 (2001), S60Concept (2009), V60 (2010), V40 (2012) & SPA – platform development projects (current XC90, S/V 90 & future products) etc.

Acting as a Design Manager at Ford Motor Company’s London based Ingeni studio, developing Interior and Exterior design for Volvo Cars and the rest of the (then) Ford Brand Portfolio; Aston Martin, Ford, Jaguar, Land-Rover, Lincoln and Mercury.

Recent experience from numerous vehicle development programs for manufacturers in Europe and Asia, concerning Design, Brand development, Market research, and Technologies, often regarding alternative fuels / drivetrains & materials and their impact on the Design execution.
